spoilers - yoon-wi information

spoilers for fate makes no mistakes, given yoon-wi's past is not addressed until a later season, very purposefully.

bastard son of a nobleman, favored supposedly because the nobleman's biological son is frail and sickly. despised by the nobleman's wife, however and his father even only viewed both yoon-wi and eun-eon as tools. it's seen that his father blamed him for his mother's death (his father's concubine and only lover, she succumbed to a diseases commonly tied to childbirth soon after yoon-wi was born.) his step mother blamed him for all and any misfortune as well as why her son wasn't favored and likely also why his father didn't love her (displaced blame but there you go.)

attracts ghosts and ghostly monsters and general spirit stuff, terrible nightmares, and has trouble sleeping due to this until he meets moon hoseung who, in addition to helping ward off his nightmares and ostensibly keeping him safer, teaches him archery and becomes his first friend.

as he gets older, yoon-wi tends to "run away" from home, which puts a rift between him and eun-eon since being sickly, eun-eon cannot leave and so suffers alone under the very same duress yoon-wi seeks to free himself of. unfortunately, yoon-wi recognizes his selfishness too late. for this reason later, after dying, he offers himself up as a reaper in place of eun-eon, who had only succumbed to a ghostly monster in yoon-wi's eyes because of yoon-wi's own actions: leaving him alone and isolated and devastatingly lonely in a loveless house. when it's worded that he'll take on eun-eon's sins, yoon-wi says they are his own. this sense of deep responsibility and arguably guilt, even follows him into his "life" as the reaper 704 when his memories are gone.

yoon-wi: kind, fairly patient all things considered, appears decent with children and a sort of "no skin off my back" sort when faced with nasty rumor mill about himself. believes in protecting those who've done nothing wrong regardless of others' persecutions, likely some of this helpfulness also stems from being helped himself when he was younger (thanks moon hoseung). is the type to spend months searching for someone's dead body on a mountain with no leads, without help, both for closure and likely to give them a proper burial. accustomed to finer things due to his noble background/status from food to wardrobe. gives easily. selfish too though, enough to not realize the harm he's doing to eun-eon, using the excuse that if he stays away eun-eon will be safe -- even if he sincerely thought this was true, to never ask eun-eon directly what he was feeling or to check in on him more was indicative of yoon-wi's own immaturity and desperation to be free. he regretted it later but it's an important truth of how he did act at that time.

for texting/au memes i can apply most of these things easily in a modernized version INSTEAD of his reaper version, just lmk.

( "the one who wields the bow will sacrifice himself to end this calamity." )

as far as most recent chapters, it would seem this is a double-sided prophecy, for it is both moon hoseung and kim yoon-wi who wield the bow, but also to their motions as a whole: yoon-wi who became 704, moon hoseung whose descendant is san, eun-eon who reincarnated into eunjae, yama the only king of hell to try to solve the problem of unrest with the goblins, and geumsun who is tied to all of them in one way or another. yama says to draw the bow one has to have the strength to do so, etc, and the impression is that the scope of this 'calamity' is bigger than a single draw. "sacrifice" too is ambiguous.

relationships:
moon hoseung - first and only friend for most of his life. ancestor of san, who eunjae repeatedly said reminded him of "hoseung", his dog and best friend.

eun-eon - yoon-wi is the older brother to the past incarnation of the one in present timeline known as yoo eunjae.

geumsun - unofficial ward, takes on role of guardian and protector to the goblin, eventually falls in love with him/ realizes he had started to but much too late

yama - not much applies here except he first mistakes him for another goblin lmao

hwan - doesn't realize hwan comes around to eun-eon even/especially without him there, so even knowing he's been around, leaves eun-eon thinking he's protecting him by staying away when it's actually the opposite. this is 100% a choice of yoon-wi's to believe that truth, so i agree with him that it's his responsibility for having isolated eun-eon.

town/others - treated seemingly kindly/warmly to his face but generally gossiped about with more stock put into rumor than truth (to the point that geumsun is upset knowing it's not true, but yoon-wi tells him not to mind them. this is much the kind of thing he's heard growing up likely and he is used to it and sees no point in trying to change the minds of those already made up.)

eun-eon's mother - not good. she hates him to the point where he is not comfortable going home both when he's a child and even into adulthood.

minister kim/father - his father views him and eun-eon as tools and actually hates yoon-wi since he blames him for his mother's death (concubine, not actual wife)

skills:
. archery
. horseback riding
. swordsmanship
. attracting spirits etc isn't really a skill but it goes here for now

traits:
. kind
. protective
. elegant
. a little removed/not quite aloof but that polite distance
. shortsighted (saying this specifically in regards to eun-eon but it likely can . apply elsewhere too)
. overconfident (this man really went out to a ghostly monster possessing his brother and thought he'd be able to Handle it despite the ghostly monster wearing eun-eon's body. sure. sure.)
